Holiday Festive Eating Guide: Tips For Eating During The Festive Feast

It can be challenging to maintain a healthy diet during the holiday season, especially with all the delicious and tempting treats that are often available. As the holidays approach, you would find yourself attending holiday activities and gatherings all too frequently, and not only would you be presented with a wide array of high-calorie food options, these activities may also throw you off your workout regime.

Don't worry, as we've compiled a few simple tips & tricks to help you watch your diet during Christmas and stay on track with hitting your Fitness Goals:

1. Practice moderation:

It's okay to indulge in your favorite holiday treats, but try to do so in moderation. Don't feel like you have to eat everything that is offered to you. One other way is to portion your meals and tackle them throughout the day. This reduces overeating as you set a hard-stop on yourself as soon as that portion of food is finished.

2. Make healthier choices:

When possible, choose healthier options. For example, opt for a small piece of fruit instead of a slice of pie or choose a lighter option like broth-based soup instead of a creamy one. Proteins such as meat, fish, eggs and tofu are known to keep you full for longer periods of time, opt for more proteins in your diet compared to gravy and starch-based food options, as those are usually loaded with sugars and can leave you craving for more.

3. Don't skip meals:

It can be tempting to skip meals in order to save room for special holiday treats, but this can lead to overeating later on. Try to eat regular meals as you normally would.

4. Stay active:

Make an effort to stay physically active during the holiday season. Go for a walk or run, do a home workout, or try a new activity like ice skating or skiing. For those of you with gym routines, make an effort to wake up earlier to get your workouts in before you kickstart the holiday activities. That way, you would feel a sense of achievement knowing that you've completed your workouts early and are ready to take on the rest of the day.

5. Drink plenty of water:

Dehydration can contribute to feelings of hunger, so be sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day.

Remember, the holidays are a time to enjoy and celebrate with loved ones, and that includes enjoying some delicious foods. It's okay to indulge a little, but try to balance it out with healthy choices and physical activity. When you're ready to get back on track, YoloFoods is here keep you nourished with all your healthy meals delivered to your doorstep.
